I have forgotten every single trope, and can't decide exactly what counts as a trope, so I'm just going to list five story elements that usually capture my interest.

The tension between idealism and practicality

Morally upright heroes

Trickster heroes who use their powers for good

Time travel (specifically when time travel is explored as a story element, rather than just as a means to get to another time)

Since I've made this list a few times before, I'm going to list some saints who have captured my attention lately.

St. Thomas Aquinas: Mentions of him kept popping up in my life, and Chesterton's bio of him made me love him as a person. Plus, some prayers by him have become important parts of my prayer routine lately.

St. Frances de Sales: I read only the first part of his very first book of apologetics before it went back to the library, but since then, I think about it at least on a weekly, if not a daily basis.

St. Michael: He's always been a presence in my family's devotions (several family members have him as a patron, and he's patron of a local parish), but looking up Michaelmas traditions this week drew me to him in a much more personal way.

St. Mary Magdalene: I've always liked her, but lately I've been drawn to her in a more unique way

St. Theresa of Calcutta: I saw a documentary about her that felt very relevant to my life and work, so I've felt a new closeness to her since then.

Thinking again about how A Charlie Brown Christmas was a staple Christmas program that regularly aired on broadcast tv and is nostalgic. But also about A CB Christmas’ message of the holiday season amidst commercialism and superficial celebrations. How Charlie Brown, feeling disenchanted by the materialism surrounding Christmas, and co eventually find Christmas in each other. Something about the simplicity of genuine connections and the spirit of giving being the core of us and of the holidays.

Then remembering Apple bought A Charlie Brown Christmas, and kept the streaming rights to it. Making it no longer on broadcast TV. How it ignored the message of the over-commercialism about a season meant for people and giving. How it took the little simple joys away, giving an absence of the yearly broadcast. And it’s been a few years, but it still makes me mad, because even if they make it available for a few days, it’s not the same. It’s no longer the same CB Christmas we know and love if it’s kept away in this manner… and it’s just… wrong

Hello and well met! Meta here to give everyone a little heads up! This month marks my third year posting my art online for everyone to enjoy! It has been a journey, boy I tell ya. Much growth has been made from when I first began. I've worked on many projects and made many friends along the way.

To commemorate the accomplishment, and because I love having excuses to do things a little different, I wanted to extend a loving hand to my mutuals and fellow artists. I'm opening myself up to you, as you undoubtedly have for me, with an open invitation for colabs!

If you've always wanted to create something together, now is the perfect time! I'm willing to work with you to make beautiful art! Have an idea you've always wanted to do, but didn't know how/when to ask? Now's your time! Hit me up either in the ask box, or dm me directly! Not sure what to make, but still want to participate? That's totally ok! I'm down to workshop/brainstorm an idea that get's us both inspired!

I'll be accepting colab projects throughout the month of November, but I'm not going to put a deadline on them getting completed. This is partly because I don't have any idea how many I'll get and I want to make sure I give each one the loving attention it deserves. Don't worry tho, I'll be keeping in touch with whoever I'm working with so we stay in the loop on the pieces' progress.
